After last year's debut, there are only a few changes for the 2023 model year. First and foremost, the IONIQ 5 gets a boost in range. All-wheel-drive models get a 10-mile increase, from 256 to 266 miles. All models now have a standard battery preconditioning and heating function. Finally, the SEL and Limited trims now have a maximum tow rating of 2,300 pounds.

The 2023 IONIQ 5 seats five and is offered in four trim levels: SE Standard Range, SE, SEL and Limited. The electric motor is available in several variants. The standard-range 58-kWh battery with a rear-mounted electric motor produces 168 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. This setup has a range of 220 miles. The longer-range 77.4-kWh battery with the rear-wheel drive configuration develops 225 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque with a range of 303 miles. According to Hyundai, with this setup, the IONIQ 5 can hit 60 mph from off the line in 7.4 seconds. The all-wheel-drive version is good for 320 hp and 446 lb-ft. This configuration has a 266-mile range. In Car and Driver testing, the IONIQ 5 with all-wheel drive reached 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds.

With rear legroom of 39.4 inches, there's plenty of room for passengers to stretch out and stay comfortable. There's lots of cargo space, too, with 27.2 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 59.3 cubic feet with the seats folded. There's also a storage area of about a cubic foot beneath the hood.

The IONIQ 5 comes with a 12.3-inch driver information display, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
