The 2017 Hyundai Elantra is offered in five models: SE, Value Edition, Eco, Sport and Limited. Additionally, there's an Elantra GT hatchback. All models have standard front-wheel drive.
The standard engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that's more efficient and powerful than last year's 1.8-liter block, developing 147 horsepower and 132 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Eco trim is motivated by a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that generates 128 hp and 156 lb.-ft. of torque, teamed with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. As the name implies, the Eco delivers the best fuel efficiency of the range, with this fuel-sipper able to return 40 mpg on the highway.*
Under the hood of the Elantra Sport is a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 201 hp and 195 lb.-ft. of torque, with EPA-estimated fuel economy rated at 22 mpg city/30 mpg highway with the six-speed manual, and 26 mpg city/33 mpg highway with the seven-speed automatic transmission.
Powering the Elantra GT hatchback is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder powerplant that's good for 173 horsepower and 154 lb.-ft.
