The 2021 Sonata is available in five trim levels: SE, SEL, SEL Plus, Limited and the new N Line. There's also a hybrid variant. The SE and SEL trims are equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. Powering the SEL Plus and Limited is a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 180 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. The N Line is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 290 hp. The Sonata Hybrid employs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that works in tandem with an electric motor to generate a total of 192 hp. All models send power to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Fuel economy is excellent. The 2021 Sonata gets up to an EPA-estimated 28 mpg city/39 mpg highway for the SE trim with the base engine.* The Sonata Hybrid returns up to 50 mpg city/54 mpg city.
The Sonata SE trim's standard features include LED headlights and taillights, a six-way manually adjustable driver's seat, an infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
