Ever since Hyundai introduced the Ioniq Hybrid in 2017, the model has been a major competitor with the Toyota Prius. The Ioniq Hybrid delivers 58 mpg in combined driving, while the best the Prius can do is 56 mpg.* Inside, owners will be treated to a logical design with lots of tech features, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Customers at the Clementon Hyundai dealer tell us they like the Ioniq's exterior styling better than the unconventional styling of the Prius. Anyone looking for a hybrid that provides outstanding fuel economy coupled with attractive exterior styling should take a good look at the 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid.

The 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid is offered in three trim levels, listed as Blue, SEL and Limited. Powering the Ioniq Hybrid is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that works in tandem with a 32-kW electric motor that's energized by a 1.56 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. According to Clementon Hyundai, the motor utilizes regenerative braking technology to help charge the battery.

Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com gave the 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid high marks, writing: "... the 2019 Hyundai Ioniq offers hybrid efficiency in a sleekly styled hatchback that is reasonably priced and loaded with cool features. Toss in Hyundai's 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain and lifetime battery coverage, and the Ioniq suddenly becomes a no-brainer."

While the Ioniq Hybrid provides outstanding fuel economy, Hyundai engineered this car to be fun to drive. The battery placement creates a low center of gravity, which combined with the multi-link rear suspension, helps the Ioniq Hybrid deliver excellent driving dynamics.

No matter which trim level you choose, you'll get a long list of standard features. The base Blue trim comes with 15-inch alloy wheels, keyless ignition, dual-zone climate control, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Bluetooth.

Opt for the SEL trim and you'll be treated to LED daytime running lights and taillights, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated door mirrors and a 7.0-inch digital display.

The top-of-the-line Limited trim gets 17-inch alloys, leather seating, a powered sunroof, interior LED lighting and Hyundai's advanced telematics system.

The 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid isn't only good for the environment, it's also very safe. The 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid received the top score of Good from the IIHS in all crash tests and was named a Top Safety Pick model. All models have a full complement of airbags and the usual safety features, but the SEL and Limited models get advanced safety gear as standard equipment. This includes lane-keep assist, pedestrian detection, driver attention warning, blind spot detection, lane change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

Also standard on the SEL trim is an automatic emergency braking system, which uses a camera mounted on the windshield that works with radar sensors in the front bumper to watch for vehicles and pedestrians in the car's path. The system alerts the driver if it detects a possible collision, and it can even stop the vehicle.
